Hospital Stay After Total Joint Replacement

So you are considering a total hip or knee replacement. You have talked to your friends and done your fair share of googling. You've heard about 5-day hospital stays after a knee replacement. The question you have?

How long will I have to stay in the hospital?

Believe it or not, your hospital stay after a joint replacement is typically only 1 night. We will get your joint replaced and have you out the door the next day. How is this possible? Well, it all has to do with the changes in our anesthesia techniques and peri-operative care. We have new medicines, pain regimens and physical therapy protocols all focused on patient care and getting you home quicker.

In fact, for many people in the Shreveport/Bossier area, if you are healthy enough you can even go home the same day. This may shock some people, but yes, same day discharge for total joints is safe and has excellent outcomes in select patient populations.

If you have any more questions, please come by the office or give us a call. We'd love to talk with you!
